Dates for this summer retreats are now available.
At Becky's Back to Basics, we are passionate about horses and their welfare. With over 25 years of experience working with horses and developing a program that is tried, tested, and true. We are offering a course that is the accumulation of information and experience that has been acquired by working with many horses throughout Western Canada, in many different disciplines for over 2 decades. This class is only available once every two years. The class covers a wide range of body working modalities and horse health. The class sizes are small so that everyone gets the most from their time in class.
We offer a variety of equestrian body balancing education so that you are the most successful in going forward into your own horse health journey, whether it is for your own personal use, to add to your already established business or just starting your own business in the field. Our experience is giving you an in-depth course that will put you on the path to success in the field of bodywork for horses. We are here to help you achieve your equine body working goals.
Our classes are set up for adult learning so that while you are on your educational journey you can still work at your existing job, be with your family, or continue with your life as it needs to be until you are complete with your schooling and can start your own business, if that is the path that you choose.
Classes will be once or twice a month depending on the workload for that month. Class time will be split between bookwork and hands-on learning each month. There will be homework and practicals to be completed every month before the next class.
We have designed this course to provide a safe and comfortable environment for both horses and students so that everyone can be successful. We provide the horses to work with throughout the program, allowing you to get your hands on as many horses as possible in order to become competent in your new skills.
The modalities that we will be covering throughout the 2 years will include but are not limited to:
The first group of students will be completing their 2 years this spring, so the second round of classes will be starting in June. Classes run monthly from June to December. There will be homework that is required to have finished from December to February, and we will pick back up in March to run hands on again until June, then repeat for year 2.

Taking the Equine Body Balancing course by Becky has been an incredible journey. I have gained immense amounts of knowledge of the horse, horse body language, health, and different techniques in how to help horses and their owners. This course has given me many tools in how to educate others on the health and well being of their horse, better awareness of body mechanics and a better and broader understanding of horses. The course is fun, attuned to practical hands on learning and ensuring proper understanding and practice of the techniques. Becky has years of experience and multiple disciplines that she brings into the course. Her thorough teaching, life examples and kind, encouraging personality has made this an unforgettable and incredible experience. I really liked the personal one on one teaching. Her patience and answers to our multiple questions has been invaluable in this course. Equine Body Balancing is a beneficial course to any horse owner or those in the equine business world.
